When I was young, we would spend almost every Christmas Eve at my grandparents’ house. They lived about 15 minutes from where we lived, so it wasn’t a far journey, but it was a big part of my Christmas memories. I remember being fascinated with the ornaments on my grandma’s tree. Many of them were covered in sequins and beads, and I particularly liked a little pair of shoes that had beads and sequins all over them.
It wasn’t until last year when I happened to see a Pinterest post with ornaments that used pins, beads, and sequins that I even remembered the ornaments from my grandma’s tree. I knew it was something I had to try!
Supplies

Pins. You can use a variety of pins, but you’ll want to make sure they aren’t so long that they poke through to the other side of your shape. You can find some of the pins I used in my Amazon list!
Sequins. Make sure the sequins have a hole, and the bigger the sequin, the more space it will fill. I have a bunch of sequins in my Amazon list.
Beads. You’ll want seed beads for sure as those help hold the sequin to the pin, but you can also layer larger beads and pearls. Some of the beads I used are found HERE.
Instructions
The process is very simple for making these trees, ornaments, and moons. One thing to remember is to always put a seed bead on the pin first. That bead helps hold everything else onto the pin. You will make a little “kabob” on the pin of a seed bead, bigger beads, and sequins. A sequin should always be last on the kabob as it will help cover the white styrofoam.
Layer as much as you would like on the pins, making sure to leave enough space at the end to stick into the styrofoam. To attach a ribbon hanger, just make a circle of the ribbon and attach it to the styrofoam using pins. I use simple straight pins for that. I always use a few pins in the ribbon to make sure that it holds.
These shapes are a little time consuming, but they are also super rewarding! Remember the larger the sequin, the quicker it will fill up. Find other shapes to bedazzle with sequins and beads! The possibilities are endless!
