Toilet Paper Tube Flower Garland
Raise your hand if you love a practically free craft?! This project is one that requires very few supplies, most of which you probably already have at home! Start saving those empty toilet paper tubes now, because that is what we use for this project. That’s probably the hardest part of the craft! Remembering not to throw those tubes away! With some paint and a little trimming, those boring toilet paper tubes are turned into colorful flowers that can brighten any mantle.
Supplies
Toilet paper tubes. While you can purchase cardboard tubes from Amazon in a pinch, I waited a few weeks until I collected enough for the number of flowers I wanted.
Craft paint. If you are like me, you may have a collection of craft paint from previous projects. You can always buy a few, but you don’t need many.
Paint brush
Metal yarn needle. You want a needle with a large enough eye for a piece of yarn, and that is strong enough to poke through the cardboard. This is similar to the one I used.
Yarn for stringing the garland
Instructions
I’ve created a little video tutorial to help guide you through this project. A few tips to keep in mind:
Allow the cardboard to dry completely before cutting
Leave about a 1/2 inch or 1 inch uncut in the center of the tube.
Be careful when poking the needle through the cardboard.
I’m planning on making a few of these for the Christmas season in Christmas colors. This is a great garland for that in between Halloween and Thanksgiving time. You can customize your colors however you would like, and it can stay up until you are ready for Christmas decorating!
